Guided tour of City of London churches, in conjunction with Open House London

Join us as RIBA and Phi Beta Kappa member Patricia Stefanowicz leads us on a guided tour of City of London churches. Following on from last year, she will focus on the churches in the east of the City – many that escaped the Great Fire. The tour, held in conjunction with Open House London, starts at 1:45pm and concludes at 4:00pm. The tour is limited to 20 participants, so please sign up early.

From 4:00pm we’ll be in a nearby pub. Even if you are unable to join the tour, come and meet your fellow Phi Beta Kappa members.

The Position of Magic in Medieval Spanish Texts

Polymath Francis Tobienne, Jr. (ΦBK, Purdue), will be giving a talk on Magic as Intellectual History and how such an occult tradition existed alongside an education steeped in liberales artes (liberal arts). Educated at Trinity College (Biology | Chemistry), Harvard University (Religious Studies & Education) and Purdue University (Middle English Language & Literature), Dr Tobienne continues to defend both the Humanities and Sciences in a legion of roles: medieval scholar, award-winning artist, linguist, award-winning professor, poet, scientist, cultural critic and theorist, intellectual historian and Christian ethicist.

Born on the Isle of Seven Flags (St. Croix—Virgin Islands), Dr Tobienne is a longtime university educator of both Language & Literature as well as a Cultural Critic who now divides his time as a Senior Research Fellow at the Dalí Museum, St. Petersburg, Florida—USA. He has written numerous articles and book chapters and is the author of Mandeville’s Travails: Merging Travel, Theory & Critical Method, The Position of Magic In Selected Medieval Spanish Texts and editor of Occultus: the Hidden and Macabre in Literature | Film.

He travels between London, England—UK and St. Petersburg, Florida—USA.
