The Phi Beta Kappa Society, America’s oldest and most widely-known academic honour society, celebrates and advocates excellence in the liberal arts and sciences. Founded in 1776, the ideas of the Society still lay the foundations of personal freedom, scientific inquiry, liberty of conscience, and creative endeavour.
Established in 2014, the mission of The London Association of Phi Beta Kappa is to enhance the usefulness of Phi Beta Kappa membership in London and the UK. This will be achieved through:
- Commitment to lifelong learning, both as a friend of likeminded organisations and as an initiator of opportunities for discourse and debate
- Participation in service-led activities that promote the ideals of Phi Beta Kappa within our communities
- Tolerance of and engagement with British academic and intellectual values
- A spirit of friendship and welcome to our members, associates and visiting Phi Betes from the US
